The ship also had the ability to access the memories of anyone aboard it and use them to manipulate its victims, making them easier to possess or kill. The ship had manipulated the distress signal after appearing out of the blue prior to its discovery, which explains why the crew would later start seeing strange paranormal-like occurrences the longer they were on the ship.Īs a demon, the ship had instant access to all of its functions, and could use them to either fool, distract, or even kill anyone aboard it, though it is not known if it could do this with other animals besides humans. The ship eventually realized Cooper, DJ, Smith, Starck, Miller, and even Peters were not as psychologically vulnerable to its taunts as Doctor Weir was and decided to force them to stay on it instead and then possess or kill them since they would have a way to get home and were soon to die from a lack of fresh oxygen if the ship didn't kill them or they didn't kill each other or themselves first. The ship seemed to be able to multitask, psychologically tormenting most (if not all) of the crew while damaging its vital functions and the Lewis and Clark. For most of the crew's time on board the ship, it was either trying to drive them mad by using each crew members' sad memories against them to the point they killed each other or committed suicide or trying to distract them from finding out the truth (and later escaping) by purposefully sabotaging many of its vital systems and even the Lewis and Clark itself, forcing everyone to stay aboard it and either die of carbon dioxide poisoning, lack of fresh and clean oxygen, or from pure and uncontrollable insanity. It is unknown what demonic figure took control of the ship, but it is possible that the Devil himself took personal control over it, or it could possibly be just a regular demon. While travelling through the chaotic dimension, it became demonically possessed and was able to successfully possess the crew, resulting in them becoming unexplainably sexually and homicidally insane to the point of eating, raping, and tearing each other apart and even having one crew member ripping his eyeballs out while saying something in Latin. Apparently the dimension the Event Horizon could have travelled through was deep within the bowels of Hell itself, or it may have went somewhere similar, but far worse. Weir (demonically possessed) to a concerned Captain Miller.Īt some point before the Lewis and Clark arrived, the ship's crew attempted to perform a test run on the gravity drive/ However, the test run appeared to have resulted in the ship travelling to some unknown dimension in which there is nothing but pure chaos and pure evil, according to a demonically possessed Doctor Weir.

"I created the Event Horizon to reach the stars, but she's gone much, much farther than that." Dr.

The ship (and the gravity drive) were designed by Dr Weir and was built to not only be able to travel vast distances and sustain a whole crew, but also included a "lifeboat" system in which, in the event of an emergency, a series of explosives could be set off and the cockpit section of the ship could be separated and function as a temporary vessel. At its core lies the gravity drive which allows the ship to travel terrific distances in moments by recreating a black hole inside the ship to go through and reappear elsewhere.

The ship itself is a massive structure which could possibly be the size of a small town.
